At age 6, the cold vinyl dentist's chair
stuck
to my legs, trapping me like the metal chain on my bib. With instruments
poised, the dentist told me to relax and think of my favorite TV show. I
closed my eyes and visualized Dick Van Dyke tripping over the ottoman. While
the dentist drilled, I floated somewhere in TV land, miles from my fear.
